Kiiroitori and the Bunnies

Kiiroitori and the Bunnies
Hey there Bunnies! :hirabbit:
Happy Easter or spring or whatever!
I’m finally on holiday and enjoying it a lot but not for too long since I need to start writing papers on monday. :jupp: Today when I woke up and looked outside the window, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was snowing again and it still is! It’s freezing cold again and time to snuggle up in a blanket and drink warm tea. This morning however I felt I needed to do something creative and made a Bento.

I can’t remember the last time I did a kyaraben (character bento) but it must have been a long time ago because I literally went crazy with cutting out the tiny face for the onigiri and eggs. Nyaaa… kyaraben definitely dont belong to my favourite productions. Anyway, there’s broccoli, teriyaki chicken, shiitake mushrooms, renkon (lotus root) and radishes in one and onigiri bunnies and usagiringo (apples) in the other one.
Do you celebrate, paint eggs or do anything else special on easter? I loved easter as a child because we got to search baskets filled with chocolate and eggs and even small presents. This year however it wouldn’t be difficult to find the colorful eggs since everything is covered in snow. I don’t know about you but I definitely had enough snow for now and would like so much to see the lovely spring flowers and sunbeams.

The “thing” with the yellow face is supposed to be Kiiroitori, Rilakkuma’s little fellow birdie in a bunny suit but my patience didn’t last long enough to make the ears of the suit.. :sigh: and the chicken egg, well I would call it a bento classic. Since for me a Bento is first and foremost food, I packed in some glossy pieces of teriyaki and healthy veggies so that there’s still the “deliciousness factor” to it and not just the cute food factor.

That’s it for now Cuties!
I wish you all a nice day with lots of chocolate eggs, tulips and cute fluffy bunnies~ :jumpingrabbit:

Kuroneko Bento

Kuroneko Bento
Hello Sunshines! :heartame:
How are you doing? Moscow is huge, pretty tough and honestly, I’m happy to come home tomorrow. Nevertheless I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you guys!
This is a quick and hearty Bento I made shortly before leaving for Moscow. I was lurking around on tumblr and came across some breathtaking pictures of Bento that were so inspiring that I just had to get up and do one myself.

There is no special reason why I chose this Bento box but I noticed that I had only used it once so I gave it a second chance. You’ve probably seen that most of my boxes are square and black and that I rarely usecuteboxes although I really would like to! I just find it so much easier to choose the right colors and arrange them in a square box.. and a black background makes all the colors look much more vivid because of the contrast! An other reason is, that I want most of my Bento meals look traditional and using a traditionally shaped and colored boxes is very helpful for that.

I obviously love this Neko Bento box but because of the reasons I wrote above, I never really used it. Anyway, I will try to incorporate some of my never seen bento boxes in my future Bento meals! Hope you don’t mind… :omnom:
As you cans see, it’s a rather tasty Bento for a rather hungry person. Teriyaki chicken with Goma, wok vegetables and three little pickles in one tire and pimped up Tamagoyaki with some rocket and ketchup and two small Mediterranean skewers with Italian cheese, bell pepper and olives. I used rocket and parsley as decoration and to fill the gaps.

Snowman Bento!

Snowman Bento!
Hey Everyone! :heartame:
Today I’m going to show you my first winter-themed Obento! It’s been snowing for the last two days and now the city is covered in white. I can’t tell you how happy I am! Everything feels so right now. :iida: I would really like to spend a few days in the mountains to go snowboarding and enjoy some powder snow but my final exams are getting closer and closer and I’ve just started repeating all the subject-matters and there isn’t a lot of time anymore. Only if I manage to work diligently throughout the holidays I’ll grant myself some snowboarding.
Anyway, it’s been some time since my last Obento and inspired by all the snow around me I decided to make a snowman Bento. I didn’t have many ingredients but somehow I like its simplicity.

There is some Teriyaki chicken, rice with fried tofu stars, chives and a really hot kind of bell pepper (more as decoration than to eat). The snowman is made of an egg and a fish ball and is chilling in a bed of snow peas. I’m kind of happy to have found the tiny but really hot bell peppers because even if they’re too hot to eat alone they’re perfect for a spicy Pasta Arrabiata, one of Silvankun’s favourite sauces! We’ve been looking for hot bell peppers for quite some time but eventually gave it up and started using Shichimi to spicen up the sauces but that’s quite wasteful.
