Spring holiday! …is over

Spring holiday! …is over
Hello there Readers!
Today is actually the last day of my spring holidays. Uni starts tomorrow and there’s still no spring in sight. At this time last year, I was taking pictures of plum and cherry blossoms but this year everything seems to be a little late. Anyway, I actually went swimming in the lake two days ago after the sauna and got a cold… I didn’t do anything special or crazy besides that and except for some excessive movie nights and some shopping my week has been pretty quiet.

Ordered these cuties~ can’t wait for them to arrive!

New in: cat flats from h&m and striped hoodie from my Mum :rabukuma:

Don’t you just love breakfast? Even if I don’t eat breakfast every morning I still think it’s the most important meal of the day and I prefer bread with ham, cheese, jam or honey to cereals… yeah – quess that’s the German genes! But believe it or not, I didn’t touch any chocolate for Easter! Luckily I’m just not that into that sweet brown mass, no matter in what shape or taste. But I could eat red meat for a whole family!! If I had that much money…

Soba with shrimps and different veggies~
Omuraisu for Silvan-kun

very quick Bento without frills for after the sauna~

I’ve discovered the most yummy tofu recipe I tried in a long time! It is called Shiraae 白和え – Mixed Tofu and Spring Vegetables and since I had just bought tofu, I tried this really simple but oh so tasty recipe from “cooking with dog” (I’m sure all of you who like Japanese cuisine know and love the nice ばあさん with her doggie).
Basically it’s crumbled tofu seasoned with dashi, soy sauce and/or miso paste to which you add blanched (spring) vegetables. In the other part of the Bento there’s whole grain penne with rapini, egg and edamame. An other culinary high light was the first completely self-made pizza…

What are your favourite pizza toppings? Mine are tuna, anchovies (l.o.v.e. them), capers, onion, mozzarella and lots of tomato sauce. I never ever put meat on my pizza!!! don’t know why but I just hate meat on pizza. I like to eat meat without nothing:miam:

Sorry for this really messy post!! and I if it made you drool too much… I’m off to dream land but I hope I can make it back really soon!!
Lots of love Cuties ..and thank you so much for all the darling comments on the Kiiroitori and the Bunnies Bento!! It’s your awesome comments that make me want to improve my Bento skills and get better each time.

Tsuru – Sushi all’osteria

Tsuru – Sushi all’osteria
Hey there Beauties! :ii:
I decided to make several posts about Milano and start with the last day or more precisely the last evening evening. Living in Zurich makes it kind of impossible for me to eat Sushi at the restaurant because they’re all pretty expensive. And buying many different fishs (as at the sushi bar), shrimps and other sea food for just one sushi evening is rather time consuming. :jupp:
So every time we’re in an other big city we love going to Japanese restaurants. Since we stayed at my grandmother’s place, and ate delicious home made food, the only chance to eat Sushi in Milan was on the last evening at our departure back to Zurich.

Edamame and Sapporo beer – love that city! :blinkheart: The sushi in Hokkaido is the best!

We decided to go to a simple but friendly place located near the Porta Romana. When we arrived, the restaurant was actually still closed but they were nice enough to let us in and take the orders almost immeditaley. Silvankun and I were totally surprised and happy about it because we were still having a long ride back home ahead of us and driving during night is not definitely not a lot of fun.

Doesn’t this sashimi almost look like a fatty, glossy salmon steak?! :miam:

The tableware was rustic and cute and so were the dishes and the whole interior. I know that going to a sushi bar could encourage one to take the fancy and daring things but I love the authentic taste of things and want to taste the same as when I’m eating home made food in Japan. Of course not always but that’s what I usually prefer. :tanoshii:

Nigiri zushi … :bang: so yummy! :klimper:

Maki zushi – always nice for in between :baloonpanda:

The fish was delicious and so fresh :on: the pieces though could have been slightly larger and thicker but the sashimi, on the other hand, was perfect! The only thing I could complain about is the Wasabi – it wasn’t strong enough and far too little.
Still haven’t had enough? Then click on “read on” for more lusciousness!

The Vegan Stoner or how to feed your head..

The Vegan Stoner or how to feed your head..
A few days ago, I stumbled over an amaizing and rather unusual but stylish food blog. I like food blogs with simple but innovative recipes and this one has just the right combination of healthy yet still mouthwatering food. The name kind of gives it away… this is comfort food at its finest!

I’m not vegetarian let alone vegan but it’s nice to know where too look up convenient and easy to make recipes for when there’s not much in the fridge. And besides, I tend to have my “vegetarian phases” where I don’t like to cook nor eat or smell meat. Unbelivable but true. Fortunately these alienating phases never last on for too long.. :etone: but still, eating vegetarian isn’t only healthy and more ethical but also very sparing with your portemonnaie. It’s crazy how much meat costs here in Switzerland!! So why not grab some yummy vegetables and toss it with some tofu or legumes instead?

The creative heads behind this likable and refreshig food blog are Sarah & Graham, two designers that totally know how to make cooking a fun experince. Their recipes are all illustrated and easy to follow. Yesterday I tried their Chickpea Curry which was done in about twenty minutes and tasted heavenly! I picked out some of their freshest and most summer suitable recipes but for all the other tempting recipes, I warmly recommend you to check out their site! :bang:

I think their illustrations are fun and humorous and as you can see on the pictures, the dishes look down-to-earth but very hearty. My next candidates will be the Plantain Chips & Dip and that badass Melon-Fresca!
Did you get the munchies yet? :omnom:
Well you see how little you need to create a full meal with only few ingredients so go on and feed your craving head! But beware of late-night munchies!!!
