Modern Lolita

Modern Lolita
In contradiction to my pessimistic weather forecast we’re finally enjoying some really nice and hot weather! Sadly I wasn’t able to enjoy the sun too much since I’m stuck at home with the final touch for my matriculation projekt. Anyway, I’m not going to tell you about the details of this nerve-wracking project so here we go with another topic: L o l i t a Fashion (ロリータ・ファッション)

I’m not sure about when or where I first encountered this extravagant Style but it wasn’t in Japan. Somehow I must have stumbled over a L o l i t a blog and since then I’ve kept seraching the web for a L o l i t a style that convinces me totally. I’m not saying that I’d have the guts to dress up like that and wear it in public but I still would like to own one special dress. Of course I’ve been looking at many different dresses and skirts from Baby the Stars shine bright, Angelic Pretty, Metamorphose & co. but besides being outrageously expensive I’m not satisfied with most of the skirts and dresses’s shapes and the pattern is often too noisy or childish for my taste. As you can see, I’m not the usual customer :youreweird:. For those of you who don’t have a clue about what I’m talking, you can read about what a L o l i t a is here. What I mean is the fashion subculture origintaing in Japan. It has next to nothing to do with the same-named novel by Vladimir Nabokov.

I guess some small part of me would like to once dress like a real L o l i t a from head to toe but on the other hand I’m too practical to buy something I’d wear only once without even having enough place for the things I already have and don’t wear. Some time ago I ordered two items from Milanoo but they haven’t arrived yet. I’m very dubious about their service but hopefully it will work nevertheless :nyanyan:. Since I don’t even know if the package even arrives I’m not going to tell you more but if it should ever arrive I’m surely going to write about it. As you can see from the pictures, I searched for a less opulent but still unimstakable L o l i t a style.

Although L o l i t a fashion is present in many parts of the world it still is a minoroty who dresses like that. I’m always excited when I see a L o l i t a-inspired dress in a western fashion magazine! For me the most important elements of this style are the knee length skirt, the knee high socks or stockings, the shoes and the head bow so it is quite easy to reproduce this style with casual pieces. A real L o l i t a has far more elaborate accessoires like wrist cuffs, bonnets and real bloomers! I’m looking forward to my package and can’t wait to show you the styles I’m going to try out.

To see more L o l i t a inspired fashion read on!

What do you think about L o l i t a fashion? Do you like it? or do you think it’s ridiculous and childish? In case you were wondering why I was writing the word L o l i t a so strangely that’s because the blog software I use has banned this word. The dresses you see on the pictures above show dresses by different designers like Betsey Johnson, Lanvin (for H&M) and others I unfortunately can’t tell you because I don’t know.

True facts? I used to be a loli. Gosu and Punk loli mostly but I dabbled in Ame style and for a while did EGA (Elegant Gothic Aristocrat.)

I feel that i’m too old for it now and I miss it terribly. I still have some choice pieces in my wardrobe but for the most part that is behind me. I LOVE looking at the new designs though.

    Thank you for sharing this!

  2. @ Ava: that’s awesome! It must have been so much fun! :blinkheart: I know what you mean with the feeling of being too old for this.. that’s why I want to keep it simple but it still is a childish look!
I think I can pull it off though :nyanyan:

  3. Gosh!! I love to look at those pictures :nyanyan::smile:

I guess I don’t have to tell you what I am thinking about this Loli-fahion :nope:

    daisuki~ 大好き・好き・好き・♥♥♥

  4. @ Miho-chan: I’m happy you liked the photos!! when is the next cosplay meeting in Lucerne? :hehe:

  5. heheh I guess I don’t have to tell you what I think about lolita fashion XD XD

if you don’t like the “childish” prints from the “normal” Lolita Brands I can give you some adress for “diffrent” Lolita Styles which may inspire you :)

I too was searching for a very long time for a new Lolita Style.

    YOu may ask why haahh
It’s only because I’m trying to wear as much as I can in everyday and my “old” dresses (for example the one I was wearing at the Tea Party at Miyukos) doesn’t fit to my everyday style anymore :) So I also change to something more “mature” and “simple” (but still trying to have some “childish” and “fairytale” like “ingriedents” in my outfit – for me that is very important)

XD I really hope you’ll find your “dream” Lolita Dress :)
