A cat in Milan

A cat in Milan
Hey there Cuties! :nekopaw:
How was your week? Last saturday I went to Lausanne for the Japan Impact, the convention I went to already two years ago. (Click and here and here to view the pictures~) I didn’t stay very long and although the costumes were great, I didn’t take any photos this time. Can’t really explain why but somehow I was too lazy to take decent pictures with that gloomy light. And I felt a little out of place with all the youngsters around me. :ainoonigiri: I’m getting too old for these kind of things! But let’s move on to the real reason for this entry.

My grandmother is quite fashion-conscious and has always had beautiful dresses and jewellery so when I go to Milan to visit her, I try to dress as neat and “Italian” as possible.

That’s not so much my usual dressing style, isn’t it? But the colors are the usual ones. Black, blue, red, white and brown are definitely the colors I wear the most. We spent the whole afternoon with strolling around the Duomo and in the shops and after a few hours my feet started hurting so badly that I barely was able to walk home. Even though or for the very reason that it was sunday, the stores were very crowded and I admired and appreciated Silvankun’s patience. In the end I only got a top from Mango which I can’t wait to wear when it will start getting warmer again.

Sorry for the tense facial expression. The sunlight was so bright! nyahaha my vampire skin & eyes didn’t like it. :klimper:

If you wonder where I’ve been the whole weekend long.. I discovered GAME OF THRONES. Ok, I know you’ve all mentioned it months ago in one way or an other but believe it or not, you’re raving about it let me cold. Don’t know why but somehow I thought it was a science fiction series and so it never crossed my mind to give it a try. Not that I have something against science fiction in general but yeah… So you can imagine what happened next. I lost all my weekend to Game of Thrones and I’m not even finished yet. :w: It’s redundant to write how much I love it?
Well so much that I even forgot to eat and drink. There’s enough nudity and sex but also love, envy, treason and most important: bloody brutality. awww :nope: The third season will premiere on March 31, 2013.

I’ll try and smile on the next photos, ok?

Oh, and on monday my new computer arrived! … yeah… I have all the reasons but no time to blog. But I’ll try to be better in the upcoming weeks!

Totally off topic but how did you like the series (Game of Thrones)?! Did you act like an addictive personality as me or didn’t you enjoy it?

The Duomo and the Galleria

The Duomo and the Galleria
Hey there Blogosphere! :hirabbit:
Today I would like to show you some impressions of the cathedral church of Milan and the The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
As you may know I’m half Italian so half of my relatives live in Milan. My parents grew up there and came to Switzerland to finish their studies. That’s why I was born and raised in Zurich but sometimes I wish I lived in a big city like Milan.

The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fifth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in the Italian state territory. At least that’s what Wikipedia says…

Pink light…. seriously?! :kitten:

I was so lucky to get to the piazza, the cathedral square, at a good time. Shortly before sunset there was a beautiful evening light and the pale marble bricks of the cathedral glowed so intensly! :twinkles:
Wiki: “The piazza marks the center of the city, both in a geographic sense and because of its importance from an artistic, cultural, and social point of view.”
If you’re afraid of birds though, you shouldn’t go there. :nope: There are doves everywhere and they’re not afraid of you.

Sorry Lucerne, this lion has definitely more dignity! :hoshi:

The Galleria

Wiki: “The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the oldest shopping mall in Italy and named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. The structure is formed by two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon covering the street connecting Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala.”
The atmosphere inside there is simply breathtaking and comforting at the same time. The floor is made of mosaic stones and there are some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan, such as Biffi Caffè, founded by the pastry chef of the monarch. :ichikeki:
But most of the people come just the see the stunning architecture and to take pictures. Like me for example.

Happy poppin’ V-day!

Happy poppin’ V-day!
Hey there Lovebirdies! :heartame:
I know, Valentine’s day is almost over but here’s something for my lovely Readers. :ii:

I drew this with the Paper53 app again. I kind of got used to the fact that you have to draw with your fingers and I even got more colors now. Don’t know why cake pops came to my mind but lately they’ve been everywhere in the Blogosphere. So Valentine’s day seemed like a perfect excuse to try doing them myself. If I had to tell you which step is the most fun, I would tell you that every step is! From baking the cake and crumbling it afterwards to choosing the different coatings and sprinkles there’s nothing about the procedure that isn’t fun. :raburabu:

Cake Pops

I baked these with my Valentine (his second name actually really is Valentin :miam: ) and now I’m sharing them with you.
We didn’t do anything special except of baking cake pops but I’ve never been an exemplary Valetine’s day reveler anyway. We only came back yesterday evening from our stay in a cottage with Silvakun’s friends and lots of snowboarding again. After almost two months university will start again on monday. I’m a little bit excited and curious but also slightly scared. Oh, I didn’t tell you yet but I passed the first semester! :iida: It took them ages to give out the results but now it’s finally official. Nevertheless I still have to book the classes for this semester but I haven’t decided yet.. :jupp:

If you care for the recipe, let me know! It’s really simple though and you can find them anywhere. The next entry will finally be about Milan, or at least a part of it.
Lots of love and see you real soon. :on:

PS: There was so much dough that we did cake pops also today! :ghihi: And now we’re giving them away because they’re too many.. the chocolate ones are the best~ :tanoshii:
